• Governor’s Opportunity Scholarships — Gov. Bill Owens and the Colorado Commission on Higher Education established the Governor’s Opportunity Scholarship in 1999 to allow more of Colorado’s low-income students to attend a postsecondary institution. • Boettcher Scholarships — The Boettcher scholarship was conceived by Charles and Claude Boettcher and established in 1952 to recognize and develop outstanding high school seniors who have the potential to make a useful contribution to the people of Colorado. • The Daniels Fund — Nearly 600 students from across Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming have been named Daniels scholars. Created through the legacy of Bill Daniels, the Daniels College Prep and Scholarship Program awards financial assistance to students who satisfy a core set of prerequisite components or who have participated in “approved” college-prep programs. • Dependents Tuition Assistance Program — This program pays the tuition and room and board for dependents of Colorado law enforcement officers, fire or national guard personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty. • Colorado National Guard Tuition Assistance Program — This program pays up to 100 percent of tuition costs at state-supported (public) colleges and universities for members of the National Guard. For more information, call the Colorado Tuition Assistance Office at 303-677-8913.
• Colorado Nursing Scholarship — The recipient must be enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program that leads to a certificate or a degree at an approved Colorado college or university.
